Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm.) is a two year diploma course streamlined to endow in-depth knowledge of technique of preparing of pharmaceutical formulations (medicines), pharmacy practice and health care system management to become a Registered Pharmacist.
The course focuses on imparting the knowledge about use of drugs, their action and adverse reactions with the body for different diseases and their absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion from the body. The Registered Pharmacist utilizes the scientific knowledge in the proper use of modern medicines and the protection of the public against dangers that are inherent in their use. Pharmacists are becoming an integral part of the healthcare industry now.
Registered Pharmacists are required in Retail and Wholesale business of medicines, employed in Hospital Pharmacy, Community Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Industry, Regulatory Control & Drug Management, Academic Activities, Training of other Health Workers, and Research etc. In all these fields, their aim is to ensure optimum drug therapy, both by contributing to the preparation, supply and control of medicines and associated products, and by providing information and advice to those who prescribe or use pharmaceutical products
